Hi, I’m Mia (she/her)
Are you exhausted by how much space food or your body takes up in your mind? Do you find yourself slipping into restriction, rules, or perfectionism when everything feels overwhelming? Maybe you’re stuck in familiar loops — the same thoughts, fears, or habits — even though you’re trying SO hard to shift them…or maybe your nervous system feels like it’s always “on,” holding tension you can’t seem to shake. If this sounds familiar, I hear you.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a clinical nutritionist in outpatient eating‑disorder recovery care. It was there I learned how my lived experience could be a meaningful point of connection with clients. I worked with integrative healthcare teams to provide comprehensive care, but I noticed it was the side‑by‑side work — relearning grocery shopping, cooking, baking, tuning into their body’s signals, and talking together through meal support sessions — where I truly came to know my clients, and where they came to know themselves. These threads continue to shape my mind‑body approach in the therapy room, where evidence‑based practices meet the complexity of your story and the wisdom of your body.
While a large part of my work focuses on disordered eating and body image, my practice extends beyond that. Therapy offers a place to slow down, understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and reconnect (or connect for the first time!) with yourself. My style is collaborative, curious, and accountable. Together, we make space for the tender, the complex, the unknown, and the hard and always moving at a pace that feels right for you. I draw from DBT, ACT, narrative therapy, body-based awareness, parts work (IFS), strength‑based and emotion‑focused perspectives, while also offering practical tools you can use in everyday life. My practice is trauma‑informed and neuro‑affirming, rooted in the belief that you are human beyond and within any diagnosis or label, and that your lived experience deserves to be met with respect, curiosity, and care.
Areas of Practice
I have experience working with people of diverse backgrounds who are seeking support for the following:
Anxiety and Depression
Disordered Eating and Body Image
Chronic pain, Stress, Burnout
Grief and Loss
Self-Identity, Self-Esteem and Confidence
Immigration/Migration
Trauma (including intergenerational and sexual trauma)
Communication challenges
I’m a great fit for folks who:
Are navigating body image concerns, disordered eating, or binge‑restrict cycles and want to explore what’s beneath these patterns with compassion and curiosity
Are seeking support for sensory differences or feeling as though they're on a constant emotional rollercoaster
Feel stuck in perfectionism, productivity patterns, or self‑criticism
Are wanting to increase their sense of self and decrease fear of social perception or judgment
Experience anxiety paralysis or intense fight‑or‑flight responses and want tools to navigate them
I see therapy as a space where we can reclaim what has been lost, soften what has been hardened, and make room for agency and healing. Healing happens both within us and between us — in relationship, in community, and in the places where we feel safe enough to be fully ourselves. Your story matters. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to navigate it alone. If you’re curious about what working together could look like, I offer free 15‑minute virtual consultations so we can connect and explore your questions.
Availability
I offer sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays, with a mix of daytime and evening availability. Additional weekday times may be available upon request.
Sessions are offered online across British Columbia. My rate is $150 per session; while I don’t direct bill, I provide detailed receipts for insurance reimbursement as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).
